re: beer, I may be a snob, but I don't understand why dumb america continues to buy corporate foreign beer, when they can easily buy some local micro brew which will support their own local economy and taste better.

No, I'm going to instead, talk shit about burning the flag and drink my inbev bud and SABmiller crap. Wake up dummies, I mean americans!

how about the drinkability commercials? no thanks.

the only commercial I like is the self promo one that versus does with the ringing guitar soundtrack.

  1. I find that, here, the local microbrews are expensive -- like $10 per six pack. The beers are often "heavy" if not in terms of taste, then in terms of alcohol, which can be unwanted.

I mostly buy what's on sale these days and my standbys are all imported -- Harp, Stella, Kirin Ichiban, Red Stripe. Most of the local liquor stores don't stock much and those that do, like Cap N Cork, are expensive. As a result, I buy most in grocery stores, which have a decent, but limited selection.

If I were a microbrew, I'd try to find a way to undersell the import competition -- price at 5.99-7.99 instead of 6.99-9.99 -- and I think you get a lot more people trying it. You look at the stores, and realize that all the big majors take up most of the available shelf space. Hard to even get placement if you're indie, much like the music and movie biz.

  2. Do you know the NHL ad I am talking about? It has a shaky POV of a guy with trendy facial hair walking around an arena before the game. He gets to the locker rooms -- runs into Todd Marchant, then claps as Datsyuk walks out of the locker room, then see Ovechkin fiddling with his stick.

It's a good ad, but the distorted guitar makes the ad. Do you know what that song is?

  3. you are a corporate beer drinker.

check out beeradvocate.com for some suggestions! You can select pilsners, etc. which you seem to like.
