Refs continue ruining hockey

Dux vs Red Wings was another mostly entertaining game despite more meddling by the refs that had a material effect on the outcome.

Long whistles all night in front of Hiller, and short whistles in front of Osgood, until the very end, when Detroit scores the disallowed game tying goal because the overactive official blows and blows his whistle.

The other disgrace was not stopping play with Wisniewski hurt, perhaps seriously, by a puck to the chest, then, with the Red Wings with an extra skater on a delayed penalty, Holmstrom cheap shots him right out front, rendering him nearly incapacitated. Of course, that doesn't get called, and with Wisniewski doubled over, not moving except for his bleeding, with his back to the play right in front of the ref, he allows play to continue for another full minute, until play stops on its own, so a cart can be brought out to dispatch Wisniewski to the hospital. Wisniewski could have easily been hit by a shot as he was doubled over trying not to be unconscious.

Also disgraceful was the continued penchant for Detroit diving (Hossa, Chelios) AND getting calls, while Detroit (esp Chelios, Holmstrom and Datsyuk) was also permitted to hit after the play and slash with abandon.

Zetterberg and Datsyuk not playing like their dominant selves. Looks like something's wrong with Datsyuk. I think they should be reunited. Love that Chelios just can't do it anymore. OTOH, he had an impact on the game tonight with his diving. He gets props cuz playing hockey at 47 compared to Moyer pitching at 46 is much more impressive.

Very clear who Bettman wanted to win tonight. With the Ducks up 2-1, and NHL fave Pitts on the ropes, the next game will probably be even more poorly reffed. Maybe I shouldl quit complaining and just bet big on Detroit.
