I hate these words, which have somehow become must-say terms on hockey broadcasts these days. Don't know where they come from.
But you can "flex" a shot on net if you are on offense, or, if you are a goalie, you can "flex" a shot away when making a save. I don't see how you can ever "flex" a shot on net. You can flip, but you can't flex.
Goalies can "flex" themselves to make the save, but cannot really "flex" away a shot. An argument could be made for "reflexing" a shot wide, but not flex.
And apparently in this new NHL, d-men stand, unanimated at the blue line or in center ice, and now "activate" when the puck comes their way and they make a play. What was wrong with "step up" or "pinch off." Is this the NHL cum transformers?
BTW, the Cooke hit on Cole was total BS. Unbelievable it wasn't a penalty. (I'm behind on the broadcast as you can see). Cooke should get a suspension. And now the next penalty called, is against the Canes on a delay of game. Lesson: knee on knee behind the play OK, even if it takes out one of the other team's better players; flipping over glass inadvertently -- NOT OK.
I would pay a lot of money to shoot a slapshot at an unmasked Bettman.
